Gmail not updating on android phone
Like many, I rely on my phone for email notifications.Recently, I stopped getting notifications of new emails. To start, head to Android's main Settings menu, then choose the "Apps" entry. From here, tap the three-dot menu button at the top of the screen, and select the "Show system" option.Other devices receive push messages in gmail for the same account.Other apps (such as Google Voice) successfully push messages to the phone, resulting in immediate notification. I tried clearing data and cache for gmail and then reestablishing the account, but that didn't help.
Email sync problems are some of the common troubles shared to us by some S6 and S6 Edge users so this post is our answer for their request for assistance.I can’t speak for other apps, but with optimization turned off, Gmail uses less than 1% of my total battery. This is such an insignificant amount of battery, one has to wonder why Google would optimize it by default. The next possible solution would be to disable the "Battery optimization" features for Gmail and Hangouts, which is an element of Doze and App Standby that was introduced in Android Marshmallow.
To start, head to the Next, simply select the Gmail app from the list, then choose "Don't optimize" and press "Done." After that, repeat this same process for the Hangouts app, and hopefully your notification issues will be a thing of the past. For what it's worth, I'm having the exact same issue on my phone since the Nougat update!
