Smell shirt dating
NEW YORK (CBSNew York) — The smell of love is in the air.
As CBS2’s Kristine Johnson reported, a recent New York dating project put body odor to the test to determine whether there could be a couple connection based solely on scent.
Clients, who pay a one-time fee of , dive in nose-first, unaware of a potential smell-mate’s age, gender or sexual orientation.
“Most normal dating services, you rely on profile pictures, assumptions that come from visual information,” Brain said.
Each of its first 100 clients received a T-shirt to wear for three days straight without bathing.
The clients then mailed the T-shirts back to Brain and Lavigne’s “Sweat Shop” at NYU, where they were cut into swatches.
” “Well, Timmy, it all started when I put my nose in a stranger’s dirty shirt that the Internet sent me and decided that yes, this was a scent I wanted to wake up to every morning.” While you can’t sign up right now, you should definitely poke around the site, because the intricacies of how the service works are intriguing: After you send back your shirt, you get sent 10 other shirts.
The good news, single people of America, is that you just got one more option when it comes to online dating.
“When I get to know someone, I actually smell their neck, and it was like a source of comfort to me,” said Smell Dating participant Nicki Gallagher.
